Who we are

Kapehanap is a local coffee shop directory for Tagum City, Philippines. This policy explains what personal data we collect through this website, why, and how it’s handled.

What we collect

Browsing the directory

If you’re just browsing shop listings, we don’t collect anything personal about you. We keep an anonymous, aggregate count of page views per shop for the shop owner’s own reference — no IP address, no cookies, and no way to identify who visited.

Contacting us

If you use our Contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message. We use this only to respond to you. Your message is stored securely and is never sold, shared, or used for marketing.

Registering as a coffee shop owner (lister)

If you list your coffee shop with us, we collect your account email and password (stored encrypted, never in plain text), along with the business details you choose to publish: shop name, address, phone number, hours, social media links, menu, and photos. This information is about your business and is shown publicly on your shop’s page.

Cookies and local storage

We don’t use tracking or advertising cookies. A login session cookie is set only if you’re a registered coffee shop owner or site administrator. If you switch between grid and list view on the directory page, that preference is remembered on your own device using your browser’s local storage — it’s never sent to us.

Third-party services

Shop location maps are powered by OpenStreetMap. Viewing a shop’s map sends your IP address directly to OpenStreetMap’s map servers, which is governed by their own privacy policy. We do not use Google Analytics, Google Maps, or any advertising network on this site.

Some shop pages link out to that shop’s own Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok pages, and to Facebook’s share tool. These are outbound links, not embedded trackers — we don’t receive any data from these platforms through those links.

Payments

We do not process payments of any kind on this website. Payment method tags shown on shop pages (such as Cash, GCash, Maya, or Card) are informational only, describing what each shop accepts in person — no payment or card data is collected or transmitted through this site.

How we protect your data

Passwords are encrypted and never stored in plain text. Coffee shop owner accounts can only ever edit their own shop listing — this is enforced by the system itself, not just hidden from view. Contact form submissions are only accessible to the site administrator.

How long we keep your data

Contact form messages are kept until manually deleted by the site administrator. Lister account and shop data are kept for as long as the account remains active.

Your rights

Under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act 10173), you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data. To make a request, please reach out through our Contact page.

Children’s privacy

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the website changes. Any updates will be posted on this page.
